CALIXAR to be part of ion channel COST consortium

“New European workforce for developing knowledge on the role of ion channels in immune cell”

CALIXAR announces the approval of the COST ion channel network project on the immune response by the European Committee of Senior Officials on Thursday 13 November, 2014.

About the project
The Ionchan-Immunrespon project involves internationally recognized scientists across 6 European countries. The specific objectives are:

  • To develop a strong European workforce to understand the role of ion channels in immune cells, and how deregulation of their function can cause disease,
  • To identify new targets for therapeutic immuno-interventions through modulation of ion channels. Our unique combination of biophysical approaches combined with molecular biology, cell biology and immunology provides a powerful approach for dissecting the functional cell biology of the immune system.

About COST
COST is an intergovernmental framework for European Cooperation in Science and Technology, allowing the coordination of nationally-funded research on a European level.

About CALIXAR
CALIXAR has a unique expertise in the native isolation of membrane proteins. Within this multidisciplinary network of leading European research institutions, CALIXAR will contribute to the elucidation of the ion channels role in immune physiology/ pathology and help to tackle new therapeutic targets challenges.
