New extraction - stabilization compounds for membrane proteins isolation

October 20, 2020

CALIXAR is proud to announce its full exclusive license acquisition (from PULSALYS(1)) for the exploitation of international patent family concerning surfactant compounds-clips for extraction and stabilization in solution of membrane proteins like GPCRs, ion channels, transporters, ….

This successful invention groups several glycosyl-substituted dicarboxylate detergents (DCODs). These surfactants are considering as powerful tools for the structural biology and for membrane proteins because they prevent problems associated with membrane protein instability in detergent solutions.

DCODs allow extract membrane proteins while having a low impact on their native and functional state(2). Some of these compounds are able to preserve the function of difficult therapeutic targets like GPCRs, ion channels or transporters much more efficiently than existing detergents.

These compounds will be used by CALIXAR in the framework of its isolation strategy for the benefit of internal discovery programs and customers projects.

With this acquisition, CALIXAR extends and confirms its expertise in terms of stabilization and isolation of membrane native therapeutic targets and antigens.
