Three years ago, CALIXAR integrated the Protein and Membrane Technology Consortium (Prometeus) supported by European Union’s H2020-MSCA-RISE-2018, coordinated by Prof. Beatrice VALLONE from the Sapienza University of Rome.
The aim of the Prometeus Consortium is to provide high-quality multidisciplinary knowledge through training and research on membrane protein and protein complexes as molecular tools for drug development and theranostics.
Through this Consortium, CALIXAR specialized in the identification and isolation of functional membrane therapeutic targets and antigens (GPCRs, Ion channels, Transporters, …) brings its unique approach and recognized expertise in native membrane proteins solubilization and stabilization to enable drug discovery.
The actors of the Prometeus Consortium met beginning of March, during a Workshop covering advanced methods for the characterization of membrane proteins, with a specific focus on drug targets and rational drug design and new structures of membrane proteins.
Alexis Moreno, R&D Project Manager at CALIXAR, gave a talk at this event to present the latest advances of CALIXAR in the expression, solubilization and stabilization of native membrane proteins with proprietary and unique reagents.
