Akt1/PKBα, unactive
N-terminal 6His-tagged recombinant, human full length Akt1.
Biological information
Background
Akt1 is an oncogenic AGC kinase that plays a critical role in regulating many processes including cell survival, metabolism, proliferation, growth and angiogenesis. AKT activation relies on the PI3K pathway, and is recognized as a critical node in the pathway. The E17 hotspot is the most characterized of AKT1 mutations, and has been shown to result in activation of the protein. Mutations in AKT1 have also been shown to confer resistance to allosteric kinase inhibitors in vitro.
GenBank M63167. The recombinant protein contains the amino acid substitution S478G with respect to this accession number. This conflict is reported inEMBL BE 206796. The residue coordinates in the native sequence are given.
